Polar opposites: The mystery of the Antarctic expansion

Came across this great little video, take a peek! It gives some more details concerning the individual responses of the North and South Poles to Global Warming.

Arctic sea ice, as expected, is following global trends, and declining in sea ice.

As to why the Antarctic is gaining see ice? Well that is a mystery!

Theories include: changes to wind patterns, increased snow fall or just natural variation in Antarctica? however it is important to remember, overall the total volume of ice is decreasing.
